About The Gida Project

Mission

At The Gida Project, our mission is to take pragmatic steps toward tangible outcomes that strengthen the connection between descendants of enslaved Africans and the continent of Africa.

We recognize that the path to dual citizenship is not just a legal process—it is a journey of identity, belonging, and restoration. Many descendants of slaves desire to reconnect with their ancestral homelands, yet face barriers that are often complex, bureaucratic, or unclear. Our role is to help break down those barriers.

What We Do

  • Simplify the Path to Citizenship We research, clarify, and share the requirements of African nations that extend citizenship opportunities to descendants of slaves, ensuring applicants have the resources they need to take the right steps.
  • Promote Access and Awareness From DNA testing to heritage documentation, we highlight the tools that make it easier for families to demonstrate lineage and strengthen their applications.
  • Create Bridges, Not Just Pathways We connect individuals not only to legal opportunities, but also to the cultural, historical, and community ties that make citizenship meaningful.

Our Vision

We believe that citizenship is more than a passport—it is an act of restoration. By making this process accessible and attainable, we seek to empower a new generation of descendants to reclaim their roots, build bridges across the diaspora, and contribute to the future of Africa.

The Gida Project is about more than reconnecting; it is about coming home.
